BOSSES of X Factor champ Shayne Ward have shocked fans by banning photographs of him on the first eight nights of the show's national tour.

The former shoe shop attendant, who hit the top of the charts at Christmas, was kicking off the tour with other finalists from the TV talent show in Newcastle.

But media representatives were told they could only watch the performance at Newcastle's Metro Radio Arena.

The picture ban led one newspaper, the Newcastle Chronicle, to boycott the show last night.

But a spokesman for the X Factor tour, who also does public relations for Shayne, said pictures can still be taken of the star when he performs in Manchester.

She said: "We're saving it for Manchester. There will be some great pictures of his home coming."

Shayne, 21, from Clayton, won the X Factor TV talent contest on December 17 and became an instant celebrity.

Shayne and the X Factor tour will come to the M.E.N. Arena on February 25, March 3 and March 12.
