CHRISTMAS is upon us! And with it a weekend of bank holiday travel chaos. Thankfully the weather forecast predicts little chance of snow. But whether you're hoping to spend time with the whole family, driving off for a quite romantic break or still working through this festive weekend, the roads are expected to be jammed.

Finally, the Highways Agency have recently launched a service here which gives minute-by-minute updates of known problems on their UK map.
If you can’t get near a computer over Christmas, then call the AA's new traffic and weather information line on 09003 401 100 or 401 100 from your mobile. Available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, the service offers live reports for all regions.

Remember, with Christmas Eve falling on a Saturday, parking in the city centre may be at a premium. Keep an eye on the digital boards on the main arteries to the city to tell you how busy the NCPs are.
