A NEW initiative from ManchesterOnline offering free websites to community groups across the North West has proved a hit with sporting groups from the region.
A host of organisations from under 12s football clubs to the Sale Sharks have made use of the new myManchesterOnline service, which allows them to build free websites as part of an online community.
The Sharks, one of the leading sides in the Zurich Premiership, have used the service to establish their own community website giving ticket information, photos and the latest news on the club to the side's dedicated fans.
The service is also attracting substantial interest from the region's young footballing stars, who have been setting up websites to promote their junior sides.
Minority sports have also been making good use of the service, which is allowing groups that may otherwise not be so widely known to promote themselves for free.
Macclesfield's motorcycle trials group, which has a dedicated regular audience, was one of the first groups to sign up, as was the Oldham Fencing club, while a variety of other sports from bowling to judo are represented on the community.
