I think the idea is excellent, so long as we can easily get this in the former colonies (getting it regardless would just imply for fancy use of available technology).
Would I use it? Darn right I would, and I'd pay to use it too! I'm always abroad working and BBC World doesn't do it for me. (Also, not all hotels carry it!)
If the BEEB carried it's channels on it's own special player AND made archives accessible also, then I'd pay the license fee twice over to be able to get this.
Congratulations to the forward thinking Aunti. After decades of shoody out of touch services the BBC really has got its' act together.

WOW! The Beeb finally realises it's in the 21st century! This is actually a very good idea, and would actually justify the licence fee. Yes, I'd use it.
Yes, yes, yes! Thousands of expats would eagerly pay to download BBC channels. There is a huge market out there no just from expats but those who wish to view English TV from abroad in order to improve their English. Also because the BBC is the best TV out there!
The World of broadcasting is changing and will change for the better as new technologies emerge so why not have the BBC as the technology leader rather than waiting until America has tied everything up and then following.
Very pleased to see the BBC thinking forward!

Knowing the BBC, this service may end up chargeable and compulsory. Failure to purchase could result in a B#500 fine or 4 weeks in prison. That's how they do business, isn't it?
Sorry. My last post was tongue-in-cheek, even though it has a ring of truth in it. I was inspired by the old (BBC)Monty Python sketch where they advertised the latest BBC book. Price - B#15 or a B#200 fine/2 months imprisonment.
Please can you provide full unrestricted access to the full back archives of televised football matches. Thank you.
Yes...great idea. Please start by making the current series of Later with Jools Holland available. Why is this series not even getting a single repeat???
I certainly would download BBC progs and the idea of opening up the archives has me positively salivating at the prospect. Good to see one of the big media beasts using broadband creatively with the customer in mind
Yes I would welcome this facility but would not be happy if I had to pay again, as I already pay enough via my licence fee
Thanks
Good luck

Do what I did and bin the TV. Works for me
