COMEDIAN and actor Steve Coogan has distanced himself from claims that rock star Courtney Love is pregnant with his child.
Friends and family of the Middleton-born star - known to millions as fictional chat show host Alan Partridge - were said to be stunned to learn of allegations of a fling.
But 41-year-old Love went even further this weekend when she claimed to be carrying Coogan's child.
A spokesman for 39-year-old Coogan was reported to have dismissed the claim as "ridiculous".
According to reports, Love discovered she was pregnant four days ago after taking a home pregnancy test.

She is said to have told a friend: "Tell me honestly, what does it make me look like that I slept with Alan Partridge?"
Love, who has an 11-year-old daughter by Cobain, is going through troubled times.
She is currently in rehab after admitting using drugs while on probation for three separate drug and assault cases.
Coogan, 39, has a colourful private life far removed from that of his comic creation Alan Partridge.
Last year he admitted cheating on his wife Caroline Hickman with two lapdancers during a cocaine-fuelled hotel romp.
His marriage ended last month when Caroline divorced him on grounds of unreasonable behaviour.
Hell-raiser
Love, who has an 11-year-old daughter from her marriage to late Nirvana front-man Kurt Cobain, is well known for her hell-raising and drug addiction struggles.
Coogan has also had a turbulent private life. His marriage to Caroline Hickman ended this summer when she divorced him on grounds of unreasonable behaviour. He had earlier admitted a fling with a lap-dancer.
The pregnancy allegation, reported in the News of the World, is said to have arisen from a two-week fling while the pair stayed at Hollywood's Sunset Marquis Hotel.

Show a recent picture of her and then judge how likely it is, if he has a taste of I assume thin lap dancers, Courtney is huge at the moment and has claimed to be falsely pregnant before, just when things were looking bad for her, not bad enough to clean up her drug taking but bad in that the press inches were not high enough
Personally I'd not believe it until a doctor does the test, the woman wouldn't know the truth if it hit her in the face, and it's never been known to come out of her sleazy mouth.
She is crazy and needs to lose rights to her own child and if she is having another baby take that one away from her also. But here in the Unites States they will not take the baby away. Her poor daughter she has with Kirt can you imagine what she is doing to her every time she does her stupid stuff? In and out of rehab and now babies and I bet she does not even know who the father is.
I hope Curt is reincarnated as their child and commits parenticide!
