Bez interview

BEZ talks to the M.E.N's Ben Rooth ahead of the dpercussion festival.

BEZ is certainly keen to tell me about his band, Domino Bones, which has been gaining momentum since they began performing 12 months ago.

In addition to Bez, the line-up consists of lead singer Monica Ward - Bez's partner - as well as Winker on bass, Rob on drums and Wags on guitar.

"I've written most of the songs apart from a few which Monica has done," he says.

"They are all based on Mancunian ramblings about anything and everything - the topics of the day. Basically, they can be about anything that's going on in my mind.

"When the band started, things were a bit shaky, but they are going really well now. Monica's singing is going down well - she's being compared to a Mancunian Janis Joplin.

"I think she's our secret weapon."

There's going to be a chance for everyone to catch Domino Bones for themselves when the band performs at the seventh annual Dpercussion festival in Manchester.

This year's festival will once again take over the Amphitheatre, arches, bars, fields, Roman ruins and any other available space of Castlefield.

From house to hip-hop, acoustic to drum 'n' bass, rock to reggae, the line-up reflects the diversity of today's music culture.

The Dpercussion festival is free and takes place from noon until 11pm on Saturday. In addition to Domino Bones, the line-up includes Nine Black Alps, Alfie, Stephen Fretwell and Durruti Column plus many more.
