Our 24-hour news site

THE Manchester Evening News today launches a website with 24-hour news.

This site will provide news from across Greater Manchester, give readers the chance to take part in debates about the day's stories and cast votes about issues.

Editor Paul Horrocks said it was an exciting development.

He said: "This is our 24-hour edition of the newspaper. It means we can break news outside the paper's normal publishing times and update during the day."

The site lies within ManchesterOnline which has more than three million users who view 10 million pages.

Visitors can find newspaper contacts and suggest stories.

Soon, the site will provide a business and sports service and audio and video footage relating to news stories.

The M.E.N. has four print editions a day, including the new, free MEN Lite.
