A UK web producer has picked up a lifetime achievement award at "internet Oscars", The Bloggies, for his weblog www.plasticbag.org.
Tom Coates , who describes himself as a éweb producer specialising in print-to-web transitions, social software and personal publishing on the webé, also picked up the prize for the best UK site for his musings on life and technology.
The Bloggies have now been running for five years with winners chosen and voted for by the public.
The annual awards honour those who have created blogs é a mix of commentary, journalism and personal diary which contains links to a host of different sources of information.
Winners
This year winners from the 30 categories were announced at the SXSW Interactive Festival in Texas, America, with a blog called Boing Boing: A Directory of Wonderful Things, taking the top overall prize.
Boing Boing moved to the web five years ago after starting life as a paper-based magazine in 1988.
