COMIC Reliefés Red Nose Day website became the UKés most popular community site by the end of last week, according to the latest industry figures.
A report from online intelligence service Hitwise, said the charity website enjoyed a 10-fold growth in traffic during the four weeks leading up to main fundraising day.
The site steadily increased its market share in the weeks leading up to Red Nose Day 2005 with its distinctive merchandise, which this year inlcuded Car Nose Hair Fresheners, proving particularly popular.

Back on February 10, www.rednoseday.com saw just 1% of all internet traffic directed at the online community sector, a figure that rose to more than 11.4% by March 10.
The BBC's Red Nose Day website, www.bbc.co.uk/rednoseday, was responsible for almost one in five of Comic Relief's Red Nose Day related traffic.

Friday also saw the final of Celebrity Fame Academy, the popular BBC series that raised money for Comic Relief with its celebrity singing competition.
Viewers contributed more than é1.3 million for the charity by registering 8.25 million votes in the weeks leading up to the final, and this tremendous show of public support translated into a four-fold increase in traffic to the official Fame Academy site, www.bbc.co.uk/fameacademy.
The site held just over 1% of all traffic to the Hitwise Television category last Friday, March 4, and this increased to almost 4% by Thursday, March 11as viewers cast last-minute votes for their favourite celebrities.

The competitionés three finalists were Radio 1 DJ Edith Bowman, Eastenders actress Kim Metcalfe and comedian Adrian Edmondson, and an analysis of Hitwise Search Terms data shows that the share of online searches each contestant received in the weeks leading up to the final accurately predicted their exact finishing order.

The term éedith bowmané was the most searched-for, followed by ékim metcalfeé and éadrian edmondsoné respectively.
