Rough ride for charity cyclists

A BLIND cyclist will spend eight nights living rough as he travels 600 miles to raise money for the homeless.

Computer programmer Brian Anthony - who lost his sight at 14 - and fellow fundraiser Peter McDonald will cycle across Britain and Ireland on a tandem bike to help the Wellspring centre for the homeless in Stockport.

The pair hope to raise '2,000 to help relocate the centre, currently in a dilapidated building off Fletcher Street.

Instead of staying in hotels or bed and breakfast facilities, the cyclists plan to experience homelessness first hand to draw attention to the problem.
