Video: City's AWOL striker Carlos Tevez gets police escort after landing at Manchester airport ahead of crunch meeting with Roberto Mancini

Carlos Tevez arriving at Manchester airport

Manchester City star Carlos Tevez has flown back to Manchester – and had to be given a police escort through the arrivals hall.

The player landed at Manchester Airport just after 1.30pm today on an Air France flight from Buenos Aires, via Paris.

The Argentine striker was met by around five police officers after his plane touched down on the runway.

He and his family were escorted through arrivals by the officers before being whisked away by a waiting car.

Tevez then arrived at City's Carrington training groundto meet with manager Roberto Mancini.

The video below shows Tevez's arrival at Carrington ...

He had been in Argentina for three months, absent without leave, since a very public bust-up with the club in which it was initially alleged that the player had refused to go on as a substitute against Bayern Munich.

Tevez ridiculed the city of Manchester and left on November 7, vowing never to return - resulting in a gross misconduct charge which cost him a record fine of six weeks' wages, or around £1.2million.

His wages were then stopped, costing him a further £3million.

And withdrawn image rights are believed to have cost Tevez £6million more.

The 28-year-old has not played for City since the Carling Cup tie against Birmingham in September. But
he has promised to subject himself to double training sessions and, claiming he would come back a better player than ever to boost the Blues' league title push.

Tevez's return comes after he gave an explosive interview to an Argentine TV station before flying back to England, accusing Mancini of treating him ‘like a dog’ in Munich.

He said he wanted to win over the City fans all over again – but was also critical of Mancini’s handling of the situation.

Why? What an utter waste of resources.

Why a Police escort, when he is used to a Hummer!!!.
Obviously he cannot afford any winter clothes these days too.
If he plays, fine that is his JOB but sorry for one I would not applaud him, this season he has let the fans and his team down. Who knows how many more points we may have if he had made himself available as and when his Manager decided to play him.

Welcome back Carlitos!

They should turn him around and kick him right back out again, he's only come back because he thinks he's in with a chance to win a couple of pots.

loan him to Stockport County

Pity the authorities didn't put him in quarantine for the next 6 months.

Still think he is a bad egg but if he is fit and we need him we should play as he is still our player. Could be massive for the title run - could be just like a £30 million new signing with ALOT to prove to us,himself and possible future employers!

Welcome back Carlos. Just go there, take the money and go to Milan. He doesn't love Manchester anyway. Does he?

Why didn't City get their own goo (sorry, security people) to pick him up instead of wasting precious police time? Hopefully,City paid for the police to collect him. If not,how come the police give free protection to non British citizens, eg Tevez and Abu whatsisname who was released yesterday?

I think we'll winalot with him back.

Mancini may as well bring him back and play him as much as possible.
That way, when United win the league, he'll have a scapegoat for messing it up

Neither Mancini and Tevez will be employed by Man City come the 2012/13 season!!

Treated like a dog for behaving like a spoilt pup.
Next plane out of Manchester is not quick enough.

All those who are true blues should have the power of conviction to back our owner and chairman.

Khaldoon is on record as saying that Tevez has a contract that the club will ensure that he honours, that statement alone is good enough for me.

So i say Welcome back Carlos if your are allowed back into the fold by the boeard, the manager and the players, then you will be welcomed back by me also.

Sod off back Carlos.

he should pay the costs of the police escort himself, make a full and public - and meaningful - apology to the manager/team/club/fans and also to the wider mancunian public - and even then still never be considered to wear the shirt again. He's not been missed - just the reverse -
and even the thought of his returning is proving divisive to the club and the fans alike.

So Carlos Tevez is back in training today, apparently he's been spotted fetching sticks and cocking his leg

If he can apologise and Mancini is big enough to let him play again, why not ?

He has a lot to prove to the club and the fans and potential buyers in the summer. It could be a win win situation all round.

His way of apologising is to announce to the world in another fateful interview on Argentinian TV that he feels as though he was "treated like a dog" referring to the treatment he contends he got from Roberto Mancini.

I just cannot understand the thinking of this man who seems to put his foot in his mouth every time he opens it. How can you possibly expect to start the healing process when you make statements like that the day before you are due to arrive back with the club and formally apologise. Roberto Mancini needs an iron will to put up with this.
