Three-car pile-up causes rush-hour closure of A6 southbound in Stockport

Traffic was blocked this morning southbound on the A6 following a three car pile-up.

The accident occurred at 8.25am just outside Asda on London Road. The Honda Jazz, Audi A5 and Vauxhall Vectra collided, with only minor injuries reported.

The road was blocked southbound around Commercial Road and Vine Street heading towards the Rising Sun.

Was it where the right turn into Asda cuts across the northbound lane. That junction is an accident waiting to happen.

Too much going on and too narrow lanes on that stretch. We knew that before the extra junction was added, but its amazing what a brown envelope can push through.

Why o why is the old access to Asda now closed, it is putting more strain on the A6 and not helping the flow of traffic on the A6. When you think of just how long it took to install these traffic hazards you would think that the powers that be would get it right - some hope !!
