A broken-down tanker brought rush-hour traffic to a virtual standstill on the M60.
Two lanes were closed on the clockwise M60 from junction 20, causing tailbacks to junction 18 at Simister Island, after the vehicle broke down at around 9.30am.
The Highways Agency said it expected traffic to begin flowing normally from around 10.30am.
