An elderly woman had to rescued after she locked herself in her room and collapsed.

The pensioner fell behind her bedroom door at Bickham House care home, on Green Walk, Bowdon, on Thursday at 12.45am.

Staff were unable to open it and firefighters from Altrincham station were called.

Crews managed to pick open the lock and help the woman, in her 80s, to safety. She did not need hospital treatment.
