Manchester United midfielder Tom Cleverley has splashed out £16,000 on making his luxury Audi R8 car 'different' to those driven by his team-mates.
The currently-injured 22-year-old celebrated his recent new contract by adding a host of new top-of-the-range gadgets to the high-powered sports car.
But instead of 'pimping' his car to make it stand out from the crowd, Cleverley opted for a 'minimalist' approach, according to the staff at EnKahnz, the 'vehicle styling boutique' who undertook the two-week operation.
And 33-year-old Imran Khan, who worked on the sleek motor, says it is now the talk of the Old Trafford dressing room.
“Tom was over the moon when he saw it,” he said.
“I think they are all given Audis at United and he wanted his to be different.
“The remit he gave us was to make it unique without going over the top and I think that's what we did.
“Apparently a lot of the lads at United are really impressed with it. It's a one-off. Nobody else will have an R8 that looks like that.
“But it's not about being flash. Most people will not notice any difference but the people who need to know will know.
“He was over the moon when he came in to pick it up.”
So what kind of modifications does £16,000 get you?
“We put in a new Barugzai styling pack, custom 22 inch alloy wheels, privacy glass, carbon fibre side blades and vents and a Piano Black paint finish,” said Naveed Khan, the chief stylist.
“The styling pack was perfect for the job, creating an aggressive but minimal look.”
The man himself admitted he was delighted with the results.
Cleverley, who is from Bradford, where the company is based, said: “"I love my cars, I’ve got a Porsche Cayenne, Range rover and now my Audi R8.
“I like my cars to be different, so I asked Naveed to work his magic."
The Audi R8 has a starting price of £87,000 for those who have to buy them from showrooms but Manchester United stars benefit from the club's sponsorship deal with Audi.
Other clients of the boutique include boxer Amir Khan.

I suddenly feel the urge to knock down a brick wall
You can't make something different to, you can only make it different from.
If he wants to be so different to his team mates he could opt for one of the following, either get a DIFFERENT car or have it sprayed sky blue and put a personalised reg with MCFC in it.
If this lad really wants it, he could be the new Stephen Ireland...
Y'know, if I ran a newspaper under the current economic conditions, this is the precise kind of fluff non-story I wouldn't run, unless I was after, ooooh dunno, outrage?
Does it really matter what he spends his money on!! It's his money to do what he pleases is. As a City fan it doesn't bother me one jot. If I could afford to do that with my car then I would. Just leave the lad alone. I am sure that like lots of City players he contributes to various charities throughout the year most of which doesn't get reported.
If you've got it flaunt it.
Nice car but the driveway of his house could do with some work on it!
The car looks good but does Mr Cleverley really need 3 cars? Maybe he does.
Jesus Christ, Thank god for Mario, Thats all iv got to say!!
Wonder how much his insurance is.........
What a classey photo shoot. Where the pictures taken in the south of France? You can take the boy out of Wigan, but you can't take the Wigan out of the boy.
Hmmmm.... the difficult life-changing decisions facing the modern-day professional footballer trying to earn a crust.
Great newsworthy story though. I feel thoroughly enlightened.
Non story apart from young man with too much money.
Bring back the days when they went on the bus.
It's enough to turn you into a Communist. Wish I had £16k to 'pimp' my car....come to think of it, my car isn't even worth half that figure. Well done, Mr Cleverley, well-known United midfielder and total misnomer.
They could have chosen a better background to take the photographs
Nice advert , very cosy ....
should be spending it on a new driveway by the look of it ...!
anyway... why is this news??
This is not the kind of publicity I want to see !
It's such a hard life keeping up with the Joneses,Ferdinands,Evras,Rooneys, isn't it eh?
I am a United fan of many years and it is gratifying to know that our season ticket/Sky subscriptions are going to such a good cause. In these hard times it would be great if they all took a 50% pay cut and the clubs reduce the admission costs! Hell would freeze over first though.
How on earth is this newsworty? Get back to reporting news items please M.E.N. It must be over 15 years since the M.E.N. was a decent news paper.
TC
His car should look different as Zinedane Cleverley is in a different class
Wow. Who cares?
Blokes spend a few days wages doing up his car to make it look tacky, whilst some other bloke gets some free advertising for his business. Is this really newsworthy?
nice to see someones got a few bob
