SALFORD
Friday 11 November 2011 - The Mayor and Mayoress will attend the War Graves Service of Remembrance commencing at 10.45 am at Agecroft Cemetery, There will be a short service at the Soldiers War Graves then at the mass grave of the Salford victims of the blitz and then at the Memorial to the Crew of the Lancaster Bomber which crashed on the banks of the River Irwell.
Sunday 13 November 2011 - This year the Mayor will attend the Salford Remembrance Service at the cenotaph, Albion Place, the Crescent, Salford. The service will commence at 10.40 am.
MANCHESTER
The city will also mark Armistice Day on Friday 11 November, with a two-minute silence observed at 11am. The start and finish of the silence will be signified with the firing of a maroon from the roof of the Town Hall.
On Sunday, November 13, at 10.48am senior representatives from the Navy, Army, Air Force, Royal British Legion, Duke of Lancaster’s Regiment and Reserve Forces will join the Lord Mayor, Councillor Harry Lyons JP, in a procession from Albert Square to the Cenotaph in St Peter’s Square.
Faith leaders, including representatives from the Muslim, Afro-Caribbean Christian Churches, Sikh, Hindu and Jewish communities, will join clergy from the Free Church, Church of England and Catholic Church.
The procession, led by the Greater Manchester Police Band, will also include the Vice Lord Lieutenant, Chief Executive, Honorary Recorder, Honorary Freeman and Honorary Alderman of the city, Members of Manchester City Council, Manchester MPs and Magistrates.
It will make its way down Mount Street and Peter Street and will be called to attention by the parade commander. At 11.00am Last Post Sounded - The start and end of the Two-Minute Silence will be marked by the firing of a 105mm gun.
BOLTON

WIGAN
Abram - The parade will assemble in the car park of St John’s School, Simpkin Street at 9.45am then proceed at 10.00am along Warrington Road for the service at 10.30am in St John’s Parish Church. After the service, the parade will reassemble outside the church and proceed to St John’s School for dispersal.
Ashton in Makerfield - The procession will assemble at the Beeches (formerly Wigan Groundwork Trust), Wigan Road, Ashton at 10.00am for 10.15am when a wreath will be laid at the Garswood Hall War Memorial. The procession will then reform and proceed to St Thomas’ Church for the service at 10.50am via Wigan Road, Gerard Street and Warrington Road. After the service, wreaths will be laid at the Cenotaph. The procession then reassembling at Violet Street and proceeding via Warrington Road and Bryn Street to the town hall for the march past and salute, continuing to Council Avenue for dispersal.
Aspull - A service will be held at the War Memorial, Finger Post, commencing at 10.50am A procession will leave the Sumner Street Headquarters of the British Legion at 10.45am and proceed along Scot Lane for a Service at the War Memorial. Please note, there will be no parade from Cale Lane headquarters of the New Springs Soldiers and Sailors Club.
Atherton - 10.20am Assemble at Formby Hall, Alder Street for departure at 10.30am prompt. Wreaths will be laid by members of the Council and various organisations. The parade will leave via Alder Street, turn left onto High Street and turn right on to Tyldesley Road, stopping at the Baptist Church Memorial. Proceed on Tyldesley Road via Market Street and Leigh Road to the Cenotaph. Return: Reassemble on Leigh Road, circumnavigate the cenotaph and return along Hamilton Street to the junction with Tyldesley Road, turn left onto Tyldesley Road, right at bollards onto High Street, right onto Alder Street to the Formby Hall. The parade will be dismissed at Formby Hall.
Golborne - A service of remembrance will be held at Golborne War Memorial, Barn Lane, Golborne at 2.30pm It will be preceded by a procession from the Legh Court car park on Legh Street, assembling at 2.15pm prompt. The service will be conducted by the clergy of Golborne, after which wreaths will be laid by the Mayor on behalf of the council, other organisations taking part and members of the public.
Hindley - At 10.00am, the procession assembles in the Market Square/car park on Cross Street, Hindley. At 10.40am, the procession leaves the assembly point and proceeds along Morris Street to Wigan Road proceeding to the War Memorial on the corner of Atherton Road and Liverpool Road outside St Peter’s Church. A service is held at the Memorial together with the wreath laying ceremony followed by a service at St Peters Church. The procession then re-assembles on Atherton Road and continues onto George Street, Chapel Green Road, turns left onto Bridge Street, continues along Market Street, turns right onto Cross Street, left onto Morris Street and ends on the town hall car park for the National Anthem and dispersal.
Ince - A service of remembrance will be held in Ince in Makerfield when a member of the council and representatives of other organisations will lay wreaths. There will be a memorial service and wreath laying ceremony at the Cenotaph in Ince Cemetery, Lower Ince at 10.15am conducted by, followed by a divine service at St Mary’s Church at 10.30am There will also be divine service at Ince Parish Church at 10.45am. There will then be a service and wreath laying ceremony at 12 noon in the Garden of Remembrance, Smithy Green, Higher Ince.
Leigh - The Parade will assemble at Marsh Gymnasium Ullswater Street, Leigh at 10.15am proceeding at 10.30am to the Cenotaph in Church Street Gardens via Railway Road, Market Street, Lord Street, Charles Street and Church Street. The Service at the Cenotaph will be conducted by the clergy of Leigh during which wreaths will be laid by the various organisations etc. The Deputy Mayor will lay the wreath on behalf of the council. There will be a return procession at the conclusion of the service, the route to be taken being along Church Street, Vernon Street, Bradshawgate, Market Street and St Mary's Way to the Town Hall Square. A salute will be taken on the town hall square when the parade passes along Market Street and those assembled on the square will be thanked for their attendance.
Lowton - A Service of Remembrance will be held at St Mary’s Church, Newton Road, Lowton at 10.30am preceded by an assembly in the schoolyard at 10.20am After the service, which will be conducted by Reverend William Stalker, a representative of the council and other organisations taking part will lay wreaths.
Platt Bridge - The parade will assemble at 10.30am on Walthew Lane at its cul-de-sac end near Elm Street. The procession will proceed at 10.40am along Walthew Lane to its junction with the A58 Liverpool Road. The procession turns right onto Liverpool Road and proceeds to Stephen Street junction then turns left onto Stephen Street and proceeds turns right onto Davies Street and proceeds to its junction with Neville Street where the Cenotaph/War Memorial is situated for the laying of wreaths at 10.50am. Following the laying of wreaths, the procession turns left onto the A58 Liverpool Road and continues north to Church Road. The procession turns right onto Church Road and proceeds to St. Nathaniel’s Church for the service. After the service the Parade will reassemble and proceed back along the same route to the cul-de-sac end of Walthew Lane for dispersal.
Shevington - Assemble outside Bewley's in Broad O'th Lane, Shevington at 10.30am proceeding at 10.45am to assemble at Shevington Memorial in the Park at the corner of Church Lane. The Ceremony commences at 10.55am followed by a service at St Anne’s Church.
Standish - The parade will assemble at Cross Street, Standish at 10.30am proceeding at 10.40am from Standish Unity Club along Market Place, Market Street and High Street, to the War Memorial at the junction of High Street/Church Street. After the service the parade will reform and return along Church Street to Market Place to be followed by an all denomination service at St Wilfrid’s Church, Standish.
Tyldesley - The parade will assemble on the Market Square at 10.20am, proceeding at 10.25am to the Cenotaph Tyldesley Cemetery via Elliott Street, Manchester Road and Hough Lane. The service at the Cenotaph will be conducted by the Reverend Straton, during which wreaths will be laid by the various organisations. Following the service, there will be a return procession to the Market Square via Hough Lane, Manchester Road and Elliott Street. As the parade passes the town hall, a salute will be taken by ward councillors and senior ex-servicemen.
Wigan town centre - The procession will leave the town hall in Library Street at 10.30am prompt and will proceed along Library Street, Rodney Street, King Street, Wallgate, King Street West and Crawford Street to the War Memorial in All Saints' Gardens. The two minutes silence will be observed at 11.00am preceded by the sounding of the 'Last Post' and ending with 'Reveille'. Following the sounding of 'Reveille' the Mayor will lay a wreath on the War Memorial on behalf of the inhabitants of Wigan to be followed by representatives of the various organisations. The ceremony will be concluded with the National Anthem. The procession will then proceed into the Parish Church for the service.
TAMESIDE
Ashton
Central - Parade will assemble on the Market Ground at 9am and proceed via Bow Street, George Street, Stamford Street and Grey Street to Ashton Parish Church for a service starting at 9.45am. Afterwards, the parade will reassemble and proceed to the war memorial in St Michael’s Square for a wreath-laying ceremony at 10.45am. Adamson Band will lead the parade.
Cockbrook - Service in St Gabriel’s Church, Beaufort Road, at 11am followed by a wreath-laying ceremony at 12.30pm at the war memorial at the side of the church with Mossley Hollins School Band in attendance.
Hurst - Service in St John’s Church, Kings Road, at 9.30am followed by a procession to the war memorial in Hurst Cemetery for a wreath-laying ceremony at 11am.
Park Bridge - Service at the war memorial in the grounds of Park Bridge Institute at 10.45am.
Waterloo - Parade will assemble at Canon Burrows Primary School, Oldham Road, at 2pm and will proceed to the Oldham Road war memorial for a service at 2.30pm. Christ Church (Ashton) Church Lads’ and Girls’ Brigade and the Band of West Hill School will be in attendance.
Audenshaw
Service and wreath-laying at the war memorial in Audenshaw Cemetery at 3pm, conducted by Father John Kershaw. No parade but St John’s (Mossley) Band will be in attendance.
Denton
Central - First parade assembly will be at 10am outside the Royal British Legion Club, Grosvenor Street. It will leave the club at 10.10am heading to Denton Town Hall with a brief stop at the Remembrance Garden. The parade will then reassemble at the town hall at 10.20am and head to the war memorial in Victoria Park for a service at 10.45am. Ashton-under-Lyne Band will be in attendance.
Haughton Green - Service in St Mary’s Church, Haughton Green Road, starting at 10.30am. To be followed by a short wreath-laying ceremony at the war memorial on the south side of the church.
Droylsden
Central - Parade will assemble in Church Street for departure at 10.15am and go to Droylsden War Memorial, Ashdale Crescent, for a service and wreath-laying ceremony at 10.45am. St John’s Church Band will lead.
Littlemoss - Service to be held in the memorial gardens at 2pm. St John’s Church Band in attendance.
Dukinfield
Parade will assemble at the town hall, King Street, at 2.30pm for departure at 2.45pm, heading to the Chapel Hill War Memorial for service and wreath-laying ceremony at 3pm. Adamson Band will lead the parade.
Hyde
Central - Parade will assemble in Greenfield Street at 2pm and proceed to to Hyde Central Methodist Church, Norfolk Street, for a service at 2.30pm. Wreath-laying will be at the town hall, Market Street, at approximately 3.30pm. Stalybridge Old Band will lead the parade. At the conclusion of this event, wreaths will be laid at the Falklands Tree Memorial on Stockport Road.
Newton - Parade will leave Rosemount Methodist Church, Bennett Street, at 10am and proceed to the war memorial at the George and Dragon Square, Bennett Street, for a short service and wreath-laying ceremony at 10.15am, conducted by the Rev Alan Bolton. St John’s (Mossley) Band will lead the parade.
Werneth - A procession will assemble at the Lower Higham Visitor Centre, Higham Lane, leaving at 11.45am for the war memorial at the top of Werneth Low where a short service and wreath-laying ceremony will be held at noon. (Vehicular access will be made available).
Longdendale
Broadbottom - Parade to assemble at Broadbottom Community Centre, Lower Market Street, at 10.30am and to proceed to the war memorial, Moss Lane, for an act of remembrance at 10.45am.
Hollingworth - Service at St Mary’s Church, Market Street, at 10am to be followed by a parade to the war memorial, Mottram Moor, for a wreath-laying ceremony at 10.50am. Reddish Safestore Band will be in attendance.
Mottram - Service will be held in Mottram Parish Church at 10.30am.
Mossley
Service and wreath-laying ceremony starts at 10.45am at the war memorial, Mossley Town Hall, Mossley Bottom Park Mossley Band will be in attendance.
Stalybridge
Parade will assemble in Armentieres Square at 10.25am and will proceed at 10.35am to the Trinity Street War Memorial for a service and wreath-laying ceremony at 10.55am. Stalybridge Old Band will lead the parade.

The Friends of Southern Cemetery will be holding a Remembrance Ceremony at the War Memorial in Southern Cemetery at 11am on Friday, 11th November. Local school children will join with cemetery staff and members of the Friends Group to hold a 2 minute silence and lay a wreath at the memorial, which commemorates the 1,300 service personnel interred in the cemetery. There will also be an opportunity to visit an exhibition of memorabilia in the Remembrance Hut by the main entrance to Southern Cemetery. All members of the public are welcome to participate.
There is (as usual) the remembrance parade from the Royal Arms Club Cadishead to the Cenotaph at Irlam where the mass and two minute silence follows. I mention this beause the MEN haven't
