THOUSANDS of college lectures are to strike over pay, their union announced today.

Staff in around 70 colleges around the country will stage a one-day walk-out on February 24, the further education teachers' union Natfhe announced.

The union said the strike was being called over the failure of these FE colleges to implement an agreed pay deal.

After ballot papers were sent to 9,300 members, 75.9 per cent voted in favour of the strike, the union said.
