The Manchester Evening News today launches the biggest-ever survey of YOUR neighbourhood.
We want to know what you really think of the place where you live. Our aim is to create the most sophisticated picture ever of the communities of Greater Manchester.
We want you to tell us about your experience of crime, local schools and health facilities.
And we also want to know how happy you are with the town, ward, and street where you live.
- Is your community a happy place, where people of all races and ages get on well together?
- Do you think the neighbourhood spirit isn't what it used to be?
- Do you feel safe walking down your street at night, or leaving the door unlocked?
- And what single thing would make your community a better place to live? With your help, we will be able to pinpoint places in Manchester where new facilities are needed, or where certain types of crime are a particular issue.
And - while the survey is completely anonymous - we will pass on the overall results to leading local and national politicians, as well as other public-sector bodies covering health, education, and policing.
So help us to find the happiest place in Greater Manchester. Help us draw up a map of how the people here live, what they consider important – and what the authorities need to do to make Greater Manchester even greater.
The survey takes just a few minutes to complete and could make a real difference to your life, and the lives of those around you.

I'd like to know which leading local and national politicians. I would like to see the local MP, John Leech, passed this information as he does a lot of work for the Withington constituency.
I have a sneaking fear that the info could be used by local authorities to increase your Council Tax if you give a favourable account of your area. I say that because Tameside MBC sent me one some time back.
I'd like to how sensitive data will he stored.
;-)
Sadly the M.E.N website seems to shut down on a Friday Night till Monday its like a ghost website..
The nearest choice was Wigan. I don't live in Wigan. I live in ATHERTON.
How do you know it's the biggest ever survey? Why are you doing it? Is there no news?
The trouble is with these surveys is that they are too general. They ask about attending your "local" hospital. How many people with any kind of medical condition attend their "local" hospital...or indeed only attend one hospital whereever it is? It also asks about diet, inferring that unless you are teetotal, you must must drink at least twice a week. Similarly, it infers chips and pizza are only "takeaway" meals, and that you either have them at least fortnightly, or never. Also, whilst it understandably majors on crime, it doesn't consider any other aspects of happiness such as family health, job/financial security, freedom of movement, social life etc. etc.
Bah!! Humbug.......!!!
I stopped answering when it began asking about my diet and how much I smoke. I can take care of my own life thank you very much, anonymous or not I don't need government, local or otherwise, thinking they have a say in my private affairs.
I completed it by putting the opposite of the truth in everything. I don't trust this one bit, given the record of the authorities. And they will have access to it.
I filled it in but not sure on how asking me how happy I am and how many times I eat chips is going to help the local community. Very random questions
Chips? Give us a break.
having scanned the comments I was so intrigued I completed the survey ( I live in Auckland NZ) and could not believe the banality of the questions, which idiot compiled these ? the MEN should be ashamed of themselves for bein g associated with such dross
oops! Will this Really Work???
The questions are strange, whats eating Pizza got to do with your neighbourhood.I was expecting questions like, how many illegal immigrants are in your area. How useless are the cops dealing with Anti social behaviour, how greedy is your local councillor
I wonder if the politicians will take any notice of this. Like the need to extend Metrolink to all of Greater Manchester.
Al Capone, you pay your Council Tax to Wigan MBC so you live in Wigan for the purposes of this survey.
The greatest thing about Manchester I remember was holding, at Manchester Airport a one-way ticket out !
I live in Stretford. Whilst it is bearable (just) during the week, there are so many different accents ( very few of them Mancunian) that it is very difficult to understand people at the weekend.
