United duo guilty over racing crash

TWO young Manchester United players are awaiting sentence over a high-speed crash which left a team-mate with several broken bones.

They could face up to two years in jail.

Danish striker Madds Timm, 20, and Callum Flanagan, 18, were charged with dangerous driving after they were witnessed driving at speeds of up to an estimated 80mph near the club's training ground in Carrington.

But the accident happened when Flanagan lost control of his Honda Civic on a bend and hit a Ford Fiesta head on.

The crash left Phil Marsh, another youth team plaer, with severe injuries and he was taken to hospital.

The Fiesta driver also suffered a broken foot and damaged tendons.

Timm, from Bowdon, Altrincham was found guilty of dangerous driving after a three day trial and was remanded on bail. He was also given an interim driving ban.

Flanagan, from Ludgate Hill, Manchester, who has since left United, admitted dangerous driving and will be sentenced with Timm.

The maximum sentence for the offence is two years in jail.

Driving any vehicle at high speed does not make the person behind the wheel an expert. It takes skill, forward planning and patience to be a good driver. Obviously these two have none of these attributes nor, indeed, any consideration for others.

I sincerely hope that these two irresonsible men receive the maximum sentence of two years for the offence of dangerous driving. I am glad to hear that no one died as a result of their lunacy although another person was injured because of their deliberate actions.
I hope they are treated as the ordinaryman in the street and not given preferential treatment because they are United stars, it will beinteresting to see what sentence they do receive, i only wish that two years imprisonment meant that, two years not six months.
They should be setting an example of being responsible on our roads to all the youngsters who look up to them NOT encouring them to be disrepectful of the law and other people.

What the heck has happened to Mads Timm?!

Just two years ago I saw him play a few times & he looked a dead cert for the first team, since then he's not done anything for Fergie to include him in the squad & now this!
