A Manchester man who covered TV pundit and politician Robert Kilroy-Silk with a bucket of manure walked free from court today.

David McGrath, 37, was given a conditional discharge by JPs at Manchester Magistrates Court.

Unemployed McGrath, of Wilmslow, Cheshire threw the bucket of slurry over Mr Kilroy-Silk because of his disparaging comments about Arabs and Muslims, the court heard.

McGrath pleaded guilty to three charges of causing criminal damage and one public order offence following the attack in Manchester on December 3 last year.

New Education Minister Ruth Kelly and Mr Kilroy-Silk's driver were also splattered with the manure. Tweet
