Blue card for soccer stars

FOUL-MOUTHED footballers are being blamed for setting a bad example to young children.

Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney is bearing the brunt of the criticism after he was seen on television swearing repeatedly during his team's clash with Arsenal this week.

He could clearly be seen mouthing obscenities as the match was screened live in millions of homes.

One head teacher said that youngsters would copy players' behaviour. His comments come as education watchdog Ofsted revealed that classroom behaviour is now at its worst ever.

A United insider said: "Swearing is no worse, there is more scrutiny."

Should footballers clean up their act? Have your say.

Blame the footballers; be it Rooney or whomever. Let's be honest, many kids hear these words at home, or elsewhere, long before they've watched their first match. I may not condone it, nevertheless, sadly, our society and culture is peppered with foul-language and anti-social behaviour. I suppose the footballers are to blame there, too.
Perhaps it is time 'we' all cleaned up our act.
