I would like to nominate Phil Frampton author of ' Golly in the Cupboard'. This is not just a book about a boy being brought up in Barnados it is about taking on an organisation and getting the files kept on you. This positive book is an uplifting account without any trace of bitterness, written by a kind and compassionate man.

I would like to nominate my wife June Webb, who campaigns tirelessly for road safety and also maintains a memorial garden to road crash victims where she also works with young offenders.
She has got Manchester city council to change the word "accident", which the majority of road deaths aren't and also Manchester City Council have renamed the accident investigation unit to Collision Investigation Unit because of her. She is always active trying to prevent other needless road deaths and stop other families suffering the heartbreak we endure daily. She asks nothing for herself but strives to make the powers that be understand the devastation road death incurs on families and communities, she is now going to have an exhibition shown in Oct/Nov. this year at the people's history Muesum entitled "NO ACCIDENT" which is aimed at showing people road death can be prevented. She works closely with the Manchester road Safety team and will go out of her way to help and support anyone who needs help. No one knows the real June who is heartbroken and devastated at the tragic death of our beautiful daughter Jodie who was killed on her 21st birthday who we miss dreadfully, all she says is that she must stop it happening to someone else. For me June is a brave,unsung hero who i know will continue to do her best for victims until she draws her last breath.

I would like to nominate Steven Prince and Scott Wall. These two innocent lads have been and still are going through the most terrible time.

Their horrific experience will always be with them and sadly also the tragic death of Craig Rennie in Steven's case.

Scott is determined to go to University and hopes to walk by Christmas. What courage, to have been so badly injured and have such a postive attitude after all he has been through. I think you are a fantastic example of bravery and an inspiration to people like Steven and sadly others that will be injured on our roads.

Hi my name is Michelle I live in Australia now but I am from Wytenshawe, Manchester. I would like to Nominate my 2nd Cousin JESSICA AUSTIN POTTER, I am not sure if I can nomianate her as she passed away last week aged nine, you ran a tribute to her, the headline was DOLL GIRL FALLS ASLEEP AND NEVER WOKE UP, The reason I am nominating our Jess is because, she is a hero, her mum and dads hero and her familiesand Manchesters Hero in my eyes... Jess on her own accord raised lots of money for charity, she was forever doing something to try and raise money, just before she died she was making smoothies to sell to raise money and was forever getting her mum and dad to do things for charity, she wanted her mum to sponser a child from Africa. There is so much our Jess did and I would like to know if she can be a nomanee if so I will let you know all the other reasons I think she should be MANCHESTERS HERO... Phil has worked tirelessly for the past 16 years in providing help support and advice to all licensees in Manchester City centre, working along the city centre Police. City Council and City Centre Management Group

He has had a number of roles in the Manchester Pub & Club networks during his 16 years these included

Vice Chair, during which time the industry was suffering from gang related problems, from intimidation, threats to protection Rackets schemes.

He himself had been threatened and once attacked, but this has never put him off being our spokesperson for the Network, which now has over 600 members thanks to Phil.

Phil was able to work along side worried Licensees and advice them on what action to take.

He is also the Press and Publicity Spokesperson for the network and is involved in a number of other schemes, in association with the City Centre Safe Office based at Bootle Street Police Station, these included

Chair of the Northern Quarter Residents Group for the past 7 years

Local Action Partnership panels throughout the city centre

As you can see these are just some of the many things Phil has been involved in while raising his own family, he has always found time to support the network and give his time free to run these groups.

I k now he would be pleasantly surprise if not shocked should his nomination get accepted, you only have to mention Phil's name in Manchester and people know who you are talking about because of his high profile in the press most weeks.
