Hundreds of cyclists dressed in red made their way across Manchester as part of a campaign to raise awareness of pedal power's health benefits.
The Love Your Bike campaign encourages people to cycle to work one day every month.
Riders were asked to dress in red to celebrate 50 years of the British Heart Foundation, as well as National Heart month.
The cyclists set off from Exchange Square to Wythenshawe Hospital and were joined by Manchester council leader Sir Richard Leese.
A keen cyclist, Sir Richard said: "It is a fantastic cause that raises awareness of heart disease and the long term health benefits of regular cycling.
“It is also a great opportunity for new riders to experience cycling in Manchester."

I would like to cycle more if we had cycle lanes and more wall brackets at local shops for locking up bikes. Preferably cycle lanes would have studs in them so that cars hear them. All the billions going on foreign aid and Olympics, why can't a few pounds be spent on cycle lanes on all the main roads to keep us safe, like Bury New/Old Rd for example. There doesn't seem to be a coordinated cycling policy, it's patchwork
There is enough of these bike riding crackpots on our roads as it is hence having to promote for more on our streets. One swerved a pot-hole and ended up under my front wheels of my car. I wasn't happy with the cyclist in question as it took over an hour to untangle what was left of his bike from the wheels of my car causing considerable damage in the process. I would of given a slap to the cyclist-but I couldn't for the fact he had been taken away in an ambulance.
Lets build bike lanes like the one on oxford road into town opposite the MRI. Yes you cyclists there is a seperate lane there away from the road its just a pity you can be bothered to use it.
Lets build more like the ones at Upper Chorlton Rd,Brookes Bar oh no doesnt matter that has become a car park for taxis as the council cant be bothered to enforce them
The main road in Cadishead is now a death trap, the council have put more parking zones in dangerous areas where the road is already quite narrow, in some cases on opposite sides of the road only yards from the end of one side to the start of the other side creating tight chicanes for both motorists as well as cyclists. The reason it's been done is to encourage people to use local shops
It's only a matter of time before a cyclist or motorist for than matter is seriously injured or worse.
I wonder how many of them actually obey the Highway Code? !
