TWO new top level domains - aimed at the mobile sector and jobs market - look set to be introduced to the internet.
The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (Icann) has given preliminary approval to the two new suffixes - .mobi and .jobs.
The approval comes just a couple of months after Icann gave preliminary approval for .post and .travel, for the postal and travel industries respectively.
However, negotiations with the organisations pushing for the new TLDs is not necessarily guaranteed and would take months to complete.
The .mobi suffix application has been sponsored by Nokia, Microsoft and T-Mobile and could be used specifically for mobile and 3G websites.
Among other TLDs being considered by Icann for approval are .cat for Catalan websites and .xxx for pornographic sites.
