With the party season upon us, that festive staple the little black dress is being dug out once again. But how about the little black pudding dress?
Bury's most famous delicacy has been transformed into catwalk fashion by Emily Deyn, little sister of Rawtenstall supermodel Agyness Deyn. The designer and her pal Aliyah Hussain, both 23, have come up with a Sixties-inspired striped, vinyl dress and cape with the halves of 30 black puddings intricately stitched in place.
And the frock, which has a shelf life of around one week, has the seal of approval from Agyness, the former chip shop girl who is now one of the world's most famous models.
Emily, based at Islington Mill studios in Salford, said: "Agyness really likes it. I sent her an email with pictures from the photo shoot and she said ‘you actually managed to make it look kind of cool'."
Emily and Aliyah, who met at college and design under the name HussainDeyn, were commissioned to work the breakfast favourite into high fashion by bosses at Bury's new shopping centre,The Rock.
They were inspired by pop superstar Lady Gaga who made headlines with a dress made entirely of slabs of meat.
The young designers, who used puddings bought on Bury Market, designed limited edition T-shirts for the shopping centre's launch this summer.
Emily said: "Where we’re from is a really big part of both mine and Aliyah's identity so we jumped at the chance to do this. We were both really baffled at first. We sat on Aliyah's kitchen floor with about 25 black puddings just experimenting. We had a lot of fun and we're really pleased with the result."
Aliyah, from Blackburn, added: "We knew we had to go for something pretty outrageous but the Sixties style came about because vinyl was the only material that we could stitch the puddings onto and get them to keep their shape.
"We spent about two weeks trying them but we had to make the dress within a couple of days of the shoot so it didn't go off." The black pudding dress is currently on display at the shopping centre.

Very tasty - and the black puddings arent bad either.
This is news?? Maybe instead of going to primarni for my festive party dress I will stitch 5000 smarties onto a bin bag and get myself into the MEN! Fashion and news this is NOT!
That's mustard.
If they design a dress with Holland's steak puddings stitched to it in strategic places, it could improve my love life with the missus no end. With gravy.
Yawn. One meat dress was interesting: copy-catting isn't.
Bloody ridiculous.
I love black puddin, though this looks offal.
BOTHERED!! She looks like an absolute idiot!
How Agyness ever made it as a 'supermodel' is beyond me.
Pretentious stupidity.
In a few months they`ll be saying your dress stinks.
Look, lady gaga did it, fresh meat too, not some cheap black puds from Bury market!! Girls get over yourself, it dont take a genius to use a needle and thread! You should not be celebrated for this, if you had done it for charity, like helping the people in the irlam gas explosions, or homeless kids then thats fair enough, thats something worth celebrating, but I for one, am not going to praise you for doing something a celebrity has already done! MEN you should be ashamed!
A Black Pudding is a small animal native to Lancashire. Well when I say animal, actually it's a bird with vestigial wings. Because the habitat of the Black Pudding is exclusively mountainous, and because it is always found on the sides of Pennies, it has evolved a rather strange gait.
A confirmed sighting then?
well done you bunch of morons!! you all have very full-filled lives that everyone should be jealous of sitting on the internet and bitching !!!
Do you think maybe these two girls were commissioned to design this piece and thats why it isn't a rip off and that it was to help their local town and charities ? hmm.....
And you should all be ashamed of yourselves .... if you'd read the other articles on this project surrounding " The Rock " in bury you'll find that the dress was made along side a bag for life for CHARITY and all proceeds from the promotion and the bags themselves go towards a terminally SICK LITTLE GIRL who is from BURY, so she can go to AMERICA to get the medical care needed to help her live !!!
your all very quick to point the finger at young productive, creative people....
i think you are all very very immature and pathetic
and I'm deeply dishearten by this whole comments board ... MEN you should be ashamed at yourselves for letting these people write such distasteful comments.
i don't think you were commenting... you were all going out of your way to project nasty vibes and comments that are thus more not beneficial or helpful in anyway!
have you never heard the saying if you don't have anything nice to say don't say it.
Im am very dishearten that you find it acceptable to write such comments about two young individuals that you know nothing more of than this article.
i also find it completely irrelevant who one of their sister's is at least they are being productive and staying out of trouble not like some of our youth culture of today!
you are all so small minded.
This must be against someone's religion and will soon be banned !
This is the type of thing you have to do to get attention when you don't have talent.
What a crock!
This article (possibly even this comment) probably took longer than the design and making of this dress!
I'm all for light hearted news, but what next, ''Rio ferdinands cousin 'invents' football boots made from ice cream''
prrrrrrrrrrrrrp
I love Bury black pudding. Shame about the dress.
