A service offering news and information for Manchester's large and expanding student population has been launched on this website.

The Student Life section this portal site for Greater Manchester includes the latest news from the universities as well as features and comment about life in the city with the country's largest student population.

There are also advice sections on housing and debt as well as the ability to search for homes to let, part-time jobs and what's on information.

Content editor Sarah Hartley said the Student Life section would provide the latest news affecting students as well as offering some fun things to do and what's on information.

She said: "I hope this section of the website will prove to be invaluable for anyone already studying in the city or for those considering coming to one of the Manchester universities later this year."

Features currently in the section include advice for those graduating this year from City Life magazine and the salutary story of the student who ran up the biggest debt on record.
