A driver walked away unscathed after his Lotus sports car ended up underneath a Peugeot.
The rush-hour smash on Ashton Old Road in Openshaw left both drivers shaken but without serious injuries. The 42-year-old Lotus driver, from Stalybridge, was examined by paramedics at the roadside and did not require hospital treatment.
The driver of the Peugeot 406, a 50-year-old man from Glossop, was taken to Manchester Royal Infirmary suffering from neck, shoulder and lower back pain.
M.E.N. reader John Roadhouse spotted the incident and took a picture. Mr Roadhouse, from Sale, said: "It was quite an eye-opening sight. My first thought was if anyone was hurt but the little Lotus seemed to be intact.
"The driver had a lucky escape. If his car had collapsed he would've been in trouble. It was an unfortunate event but I would say it was lucky for both drivers in a way.
"They were stood by the side of the road swapping details and seemed unhurt – just bruised insurance policies."

Is this the new way the motoring organisations do roadside vehicle inspections.
"Just checking the silencer Sir".
Peugout - the Lotus Eaters.............
I know parking is tight in manchester but this is a scratch to far
What KIND of Lotus car was it?
FFS.
We don't care that the Peugeot was a 406.
No worries, that'll t-cut out.
A pretty good advert for Lotus, considering it had a car on top of it and the driver was unhurt, but the other driver went to hospital.
any news today ?
Is this some kind of car mating ritual. I wonder what car it would make?
Probably a DeLorean.
I dont supose a careless driving summons will be whinging its way to the driver of the Lotus - seems today that you can cause thousands of pounds worth of damage and Plod do not leave their nice comfy offices - cycle on the pavement - all hell breaks loose!

Now call me cycnical but I can see a injury claim winging its way to the Lotus drivers insurance.
