A dad-of-two was beaten up and almost killed after he chased two thieves who had stolen his mobile phone.
Szczepan Mroczkowski, 29, spent three days in intensive care with broken cheekbones and severe head injuries. He now suffers from seizures and has had to give up his job as a property manager.
And his two young children are so frightened about what’s happened, they are struggling to sleep.
Mr Mroczkowski was on a night out in Chorlton when the two men took his phone on Barlow Moor Road. He chased them to Chorlton Park, where they hit him in the face with a large object before repeatedly kicking him in the head.
Mr Mroczkowski, who lives with his wife and children aged two and six in Wythenshawe, said: “I was only trying to get my phone back – they could have killed me. The doctors couldn’t tell my wife if I would live or not.
“It was very traumatic and I am still getting headaches and dizzy spells.”
Mr Mroczkowski, who was working for a property development company, spent a week in Salford Royal Hospital and is recovering at home.
Det Con Jane Naylor said: “The victim has suffered seizures since the attack and this has meant he is not allowed to drive for at least a year. This, in turn, has meant he has lost his job.
“The victim has a two-year-old and six-year-old to support and they are now struggling to sleep because of what has happened to their dad.
“This vile, unprovoked and violent assault has had a massive impact on the victim’s life and his family.”
The two thieves are black and aged 22 -25. They wore black clothing. One was 5ft 10ins, the other 6ft.
Anyone with information about the attack, at midnight on June 18, is urged to call police on 0161 856 6090 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.

When this scum is found they should be given ten years hard labour in a prison on a island off scotland and have visits once a year ..But knowing our (great system) they will be seen as the victims not the criminals..we need real deterents in britain ,i hope the "Victim feels better soon".

You forgot to add he should be deported when he's better.

They were probably from broken homes and were overcoming drug addiction, however i'm sure we can take heart that they have since given up a life of crime and turned a new leaf. I'm sure if we gave them a free holiday and council house they would repay us by getting good jobs and staying out of trouble.
p.s the Judge is free to use this in his sentencing if the animals get caught.
Bloody cowards the pair of them!

Why?

Because if he hadn't have come to our country then an indigenous person would have had their phone stolen and been battered.
He has in effect stolen the chance for an indigenous resident here to get robbed and battered, im sick of it.
If someone has a genuine need to come here and get robbed and put in hospital then im ok with that, but every tom dick and harry?
All im saying is we need to make sure we look after our own first, hes came here and jumped the queue.
Who knows how many genuine brits were in need of being robbed and battered that night and now they cant be.
it was probably the same scum who nicked my bag in chorlton park.

A least he was working and not on benefits you idiot!
Bloody ell they cant win.
Brilliant. The Daily Mail should sign you up. On a serious note, let's hope this man recovers soon.
No violence is acceptable, these non-humans should be locked away for a very long time.
Ignoramus was being Ironic
A police spokeswoman issues a statement: "... A viction..." We do not know who she or he is nor do we care because we nare not paid to care; by the way, this is an isolated incident, so do not complain about us police not doing what we are paid for. Good night and mind how you go. Toodle pip!

You buy into the same old illusion that hard labour would make these people think twice about committing crime. For all our laws and sentencing, people still commit crime whether in the UK- no death penalty- or China- death penalty. What you need to ask is why are they resorting to crime. Either way, the perpetrators need to be caught as they are clearly dangerous.
10 years hard labour for this type of crime to a person is very apt. That's ten years off our streets, and the results of hard labour should help pay for their keep. If it doesn't reform the thugs, then it's hard luck for them. They'll just waste their lives in there. If the penny doesn't drop then so what? Someone who will rob and then do this to a person deserves no sympathy whatsoever. I reserve mine for the victims like Mr Morczkowski.
Chorlton used to be such a nice place, its gone down hill, in a few years it will be as rough as Whalley Range
