Parachute conman tries it on AGAIN!

Mark Maskell

A conman jailed for a parachute jump charity scam has been caught trying the same trick – just FIVE days after leaving jail.

Mark Maskell was jailed in February after he ripped off hundreds of people by claiming he was skydiving for charity.

We told how Maskell, 25, knocked on doors asking for sponsorship. He said the jump would raise money for a homeless charity – but it has not received a penny.

We also revealed that Maskell sent a letter from prison apologising to victims.

But when he was released earlier this month, he went straight back to two of his previous
victims and tried the same con.

This time they had seen his crimes in the M.E.N. and the Stockport Express – and called police.

Maskell is now back behind bars awaiting his fate after magistrates decided he should be sentenced at crown court. He admitted two counts of fraud by false representation.

Stockport magistrates heard that on April 20 he returned to a property in Heaton Chapel, where he had previously conned a 72-year-old lady out of £40. She recognised him from the paper and alerted the police. Half an hour later, he targeted another previous victim, this time in Heaton Moor.

Prosecuting, Eddie Coyle said that when the pensioner first saw him, she thought he might have come round to apologise.

Maskell, of Culver Road, Adswood, always claims he is collecting for Stockport homeless charity the Wellspring. The charity’s manager Jonathan Billings said: “I can’t believe that he was out on the Thursday and by the Wednesday he was rearrested. I think the magistrates have been very lenient on him over the last seven years since he has been committing the same offences.”

Defending, Simon Mortimer said Maskell needed help with a gambling addiction.

Maskell is due to be sentenced at Manchester’s Minshull Street Crown Court on May 21.

Just shows that the loonie left 'treat them nicely' doesn't work. I can bet if he'd been birched and was facing that again he wouldn't have re offended - cheaper too!

Correct me if Im wrong but I am pretty sure that the majority of,If not all comments posted the
last time that this Parasite was in the news suggested that the paltry sentence he recieved would
be no deterrent.
Listen to the people Judges.

He must have a defence of not recieving an asbo to stop this behaviour the last time he was convicted..i.e "No one told me I couldnt do it again."

If he doesn't watch it he'll be in for the high jump.

let him collect for charity and then throw him out of a plane.

Would gladly sponsor him if he did the jump without a parachute. £1 would be well worth the money.

Maybe he went back to the same homes twice by saying that he is trying the same con again for a sponsered jail sentence and people should sponsor him an amount for every week he spends in jail.

Exactly what a Conman would do.

Jailed 2006. jailed 2007, jailed 2008 and jailed 2010.I hope the charity sticks to its guns . Give this guy a genuine charity ID badge, how many more houses will he use it to get access to? Con artists don't have the empathy to feel sorry, they look directly in your eyes and lie to you.

He is ticking all the boxes to ensure a speedy objection free early release from the big house.

That was my comment when he was convicted last time, it only seems five minutes ago. He'll be back again.

This guy is just going to move to another area of the UK and carry on as though nothing has happened, actually this guy just isnt bothered, there are a lot worse crimes being committed with derisory sentences though.
