And instead of a best-seller author taking the title, the latest accolade of Booker prizewinner has gone to a Stockport sandwich firm.
The Booker Prize for Excellence Awards are highly respected by the industry and cover everything from "Best on the go caterer" to "Best independent newcomer."
Alan and Michelle Harvey, who run Mersey Catering Sandwiches, say their success in the "Best specialist caterer" category was based on high-quality food and service to customers.
Alan said: "Everything is good and fresh and well presented. We don't serve wild, exotic food -people want to eat simple and healthy cooking. But we do have what we call a `wild factor' - when people look at the way our food is presented, they are impressed before they taste it."
Part of the prize is a trip to Athens, booked for September.
But because the Harveys have two children aged two and six, they don't think they will be able to go - so they're thinking of giving the tickets to two members of staff.
Kerry Rogan, one of the judges, said: "We awarded Alan and Michelle the award because they had a lot of personality, which we really liked.
" They were very up-to-date with their menu and their service. Although the quality of their food is high, they still have a cheap pricing."
