A teenager appeared in court today accused of harrassing a man who then collapsed and died at his home in Hattersley.

Kial Cottingham, 18, is charged with the harrassment of 64-year-old David Askew over six weeks leading up to his death on Wednesday.

Mr Askew, who had learning difficulties, was found dead in the garden of his home on Melandra Crescent at around 9.40pm.

Cottingham, also of Melandra Crescent, is due to appear before Tameside magistrates today after being arrested on Thursday night.

The charges relate to a series of incidents in Hattersley between January 25 and March 10, police confirmed.

An 18-year-old man arrested on suspicion of manslaughter has been bailed until June 7.
