Manchester city council met on Wednesday morning and you can follow what happened here.

Our reporter Deborah Linton reported the latest news from Manchester town hall. The council executive will considered proposals for joining forces with other Greater Manchester authorities to make decisions over policy areas such as transport.

At 10am there was a meeting of full council, with councillors making a final decision on the controversial proposal.
