A Question Time-style debate was held in Manchester on Thursday night with three MPs and the MEN's David Ottewell on the panel discussing political issues.
The MPs on the panel were Tony Lloyd (Labour, Manchester Central), Graham Brady (Conservative, Altrincham and Sale West) and Mark Hunter (Lib Dem, Cheadle).
The event, in the City Inn and starting at 7pm, was organised by Total Politics, the political magazine, and is one of a number of similar events around the country organised in advance of the forthcoming general election.

Tucked away in Tameside's website under "Governance Consultation" the Council has organised a vote on whether the residents want an elected mayor or not! Nothing on Tameside radio, nothing in the press, nothing on any media - the big hush!
Seems to me like someone really doesn't want to know what the residents think!
Don't laugh but the Council actually has an "Empowering Residents Engagement Strategy" (Don't tell anyone!)
Deadline to vote 15 February 2010.
In order for your comments to be included in this consultation, please complete the 'Your comments count' form on the website before 15th February 2010.
We have lots of political wrangling that we dont know about? since we joined the EU weve seen our country sold off to the best bidder.
Gordon Brown is SURRENDERING a chunk of England to the French by flogging them the port of Dover.
I think the coverage of the Total Politics debate was useless; better by far would have been a live transmission.can Trinity Mirror afford that?
Gladys Rowbotham - the government has forced all councils to do this, its not off Tameside's own bat, and very few have gone into it with lots of publicity as next to no-one appears interested. Manchester's own consultation, which had a lot of publicity, had a lamentable response rate.
Phil Turner - given that we pay nothing for this website, its asking a bit much to go round denouncing its coverage as rubbish. You could set up your own website to cover these things if you could do it better.
The canapes were delightful (bizarrely trashed from the chair) and the free booze a big win, but the evening totally lacked politics – see review at http://www.manchestersalon.org.uk/review-of-manchester-question-time-total-politics-feb-2010.html.
