Prison for the serial burglar trapped by shoe prints

Kenneth Snabities, 21, who targeted the ten homes in Longsight, has now been jailed for three years.

A PROLIFIC burglar tracked down after raiding a ground-floor flat took police on a tour of the area, pointing out nine more homes he had plundered.

He was collared after leaving finger and shoe prints outside a flat in Richmond Grove in December last year. A laptop was stolen while the tenant was out jogging.

Snabities, of Longton Road, Blackley, admitted burglary, with nine other offences taken into consideration, at Manchester Crown Court.

When released he will also serve a five-year ASBO.

David Lees, prosecuting, said Snabities flagged up nine homes he had burgled when he was driven around Longsight by police.

Chudi Grant, defending, told the court that the defendant left school at 14, but had worked full time as a mechanic and market trader.

Appalling record

Mr Grant added: “He has a frankly appalling record for someone so young. But he's reaching an age where people mature and look forward to leading full lives and getting his house in order.”

Judge Michael Henshell warned the defendant: “You're 21, but a persistent burglar. Your sentences will get longer and longer as you get older. You will get to middle age and look back on your life and see that you have spent most of it in custody.”

After the case, Det Sgt Ian Shore of Longsight police, said: “Snabities is clearly a prolific offender who will take any opportunity to burgle houses and the open window proved too much of a temptation.

“The homes of Longsight are a safer place now Snabities is behind bars. Unfortunately there are others who will take similar opportunities and I would urge everyone to only leave windows or doors open in the room you are in. Also, ensure doors and windows are kept shut and locked when you are out.”

Fit barbed wire to your property, if they try to sue ou when they break in, name and shame them in the courts and papers.

A trainee mechanic and market trader at 14? Sorry Mr Defence, but that is a lie, he has been a prolific burgalar since the late 90's. Snabities was a regular lock up for me back in the day.

Re the barbed wire etc, I fitted a metal plate over the flimsy bottom panel of the back door to my garage. Trouble was, B & Q only had small ones so I bought 2 and over-lapped them. It wouldn't be pretty if someone tried to kick that panel in as they won't get their leg back in its entirety. Not that I wish anything bad on these parasites, but it would be hard luck for them.

So the judge has the foresight to see that by the time he's middle aged he will have spent
most of his life in custody,
however
countless more innocent victims will be made to suffer until he gets a sentence that fits,
leopards never change there spots,
MEN lets lobby for the 3 strikes and you are out, the public will be behind you,
and the scum off our streets !!!

Burglars are a different breed as far as im concerned and need to be dealt with not mollycoddled.

He got 3 years in 2005 but didnt do a full sentence. If the judge can comment that in his middle age he will look back to see he had spent most of his life behind bars, then the brain cells in the judges head should be saying hang on why waste more tax payers money on future trials and just give him 25 years now.

But carlsberg dont do judges, but if they did they would probably be the best in the world

I can't believe Kenneth Snabities only got 3 years for his crimes. He should be locked up at least 7 years as I believe 3 years inside will simply not teach him a lesson. He will be back out and doing what he is best at - robbing people!!

what a horrible piece of scum, the judge got it wrong again he should have given this low life 10 years minimum, we all know he will be back thieving from innocent people.

Well Judge you also have a duty to do your job correctly, give him a decent sentence say 20 years and that will sort the scum out and all of the other thieving scum out there
