The Duchess of Cornwall pulled a pint in the Rovers Return on a visit to the set of Coronation Street.
HRH Camilla Parker Bowles - visiting Weatherfield to mark the soap's 50th anniversary year – stopped inside the Rovers after taking time to pose for pictures and meet cast members and producers on the famous cobbles outside. She was presented with a bouquet of flowers by young actresses Helen Flanagan and Brooke Vincent.
Camilla said she watched Corrie as a child and, after taking a break from the show, had recently started watching again. She said of the set: “It is so small. It is mini. I can't believe I am here!”
HRH kept warm in a smart blue coat, adorned with a bespoke brooch – specially made by Whitefield jeweller Keith Simpson in the shape of Hilda Ogden's infamous flying ducks.
Camilla also wore flat black boots, a choice she regretted when she chatted to Beverley Callard, who plays Rovers Return landlady Liz McDonald.
Camilla told Beverley – who was wearing high heels and a mini skirt – that she looked “glam”. “I should have worn my stilettos,” Camilla said.
Beverley replied: “I should have worn a longer skirt. But this was the longest one she (Liz) has got.”
The Duchess then watched a scene being filmed inside the set of the pub before trying her hand behind the bar.
Pint
Former Boyzone singer Keith Duffy coaxed her into serving the drink. He put his hand on her back and said: “You can't leave without pulling a pint.”
Camilla happily obliged but asked: “who's going to drink it?”
Ryan Thomas, who plays builder Jason Grimshaw took a sip and said: “In the ten years I have been here this is the best pint.”
Director of ITV, John Whiston, said: “It has been an exciting morning. We've thoroughly enjoyed hosting a visit to the set by Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cornwall.”

Too many seem blind to the faults of the disfunctional Windsor clan. I know I will never live to see a republic!
I see the Corrie lot are all falling at her feet. Are they after a mention in the next honours list?
