A MAN is fighting for his life in hospital following a hit-and-run road crash.
The 63-year-old, who celebrated his birthday on, Christmas Eve, was knocked over as he crossed Didsbury Road, in Heaton Mersey, Stockport.
His injuries are said to be 'extremely serious'.
A Greater Manchester Police spokesman said: "At 7.10pm officers were called to a road traffic collision outside the Co-op on Didsbury Road, Heaton Mersey. A small, dark-coloured car had collided with a male pedestrian who was crossing the road. A female driver and male passenger, both Asian and in their mid-30s, stopped and rendered initial assistance to the male but subsequently left the scene before police arrived.
"The male is currently in Stepping HIll Hospital where his condition is described as critical and life-threatening."
Police are appealing for the couple, or anyone who witnessed the crash, to contact them on 0161 872 5050 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.

As for the people responsible, dont they have any conscience? I hope they are caught and brought to justice with a heavy handed judge but after reading many recent sentences i somehow doubt it.
