A SHOP worker was kidnapped and tortured by attackers who demanded a ransom.
In a horrendous phone call the 27-year-old victim pleaded with his relatives to save his life as boiling water was poured over his body at a Tameside address. He had been snatched from a Salford street in broad daylight after being followed in a car.
Police are now hunting for five men in connection with the attack.
The victim. who is of Vietnamese origin and works in his family's off-licence, was kidnapped in Oldfield Road, just off the busy A6.
He was driving his car when four men started to follow him. He tried to shake them off by driving into a car park but they blocked him in.
The victim was bundled into their car and driven for 40 minutes. During the journey he was beaten up and told to pay out £150,000 or lose his life.
He was eventually taken to an address in Ashton-under-Lyne where two other men were waiting. There, he was then subjected to a horrific seven-hour ordeal.
Cables were used to tie him up, and he was kicked in the back, chest, and stomach. His head, ankles, and legs were stamped on.
He was forced to call a member of his family and tell them they had to hand over cash. While on the phone boiling water was poured over him.
Members of his family met with some of the kidnappers and £10,000 of cash was handed over.
The gang then went back to the house and again tortured him, pouring boiling water over his already burned skin on his body and his feet, stomach, and groin.
A second meeting was set up by the victim's family with kidnappers. While they were en route to the meeting two men left to guard the victim continued to torture him by stabbing him in the leg. But he loosened the cables and escaped.
He called the police before any more cash was paid. He was then taken to hospital where he is recovering.
Police are investigating why the victim was targeted.
Det Insp Caroline Walker, said: “The victim was kidnapped in the car park of a Chinese warehouse on Oldfield Road at 12.30pm on November 10th. We would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident."
A man was due to appear in court today charged with kidnapping, false imprisonment, blackmail, attempted blackmail and assault.
Anyone with information should contact police on 0161 856 5351 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

I was watching a police program the other week about gun crime in London, and the policeman looked at it in a way as the police who deal with these gunmen where in away a necessary Evil.
