SIX dangerous dogs have been seized after police raids in Oldham.
The pit-bull type animals were found when officers searched three houses in the Alexandra area of the town following concerns from residents.
Five men, aged between 20 and 30 have been arrested on suspicion of offences under the Dangerous Dogs Act and possession with intent to supply cannabis.
The dogs have been taken into the care of police.
Sgt Trevor Harrison said: "Concerns have been raised by our community and where we have information that people are keeping or breeding dangerous dogs that are illegal, we will take positive action and act."

Bring back dog licences and prosecute - to the max - the scum that see animals as nothing more than fashion/lifestyle accessories.
I'm an animal lover, but I'd rather see a beast humanely despatched, than face a life with people that don't care about them.

There is now agood chance that the poor animals will be destroyed.
Anyone who contributes to making an animal vicious, & it is the owner who does this either deliberately or by neglect, should never again be allowed to own any animal.
My granddaughter has two 'staffies & they are lovely animals. Her three children love them & that love is returned ten fold.

i have a staff who is a big softie, these dogs look like they have gotten into the wrong hands as so often does - irresponsible breeding etc - they need to be socially tested and housed with a staffie rescue to see if they can be rehomed safely, I guess I know the answer already - this is tragic all round.
