THE family of a teenage girl left with a pendent embedded in her face are furious her teenage attackers have escaped jail.
The two girls and a boy, who cannot be named because they are all 16, were given referral orders or community sentences by magistrates.
The uncle of the victim, who has asked not to be named, said: "This was an horrific attack so it is disappointing that the perpetrators have escaped custodial sentences. It sends out the wrong message."
The victim had gone to a children's playground in Rochdale's Springfield park in June with her three young sisters, aged five to 11, and her sister-in-law, who was with her 18-month-old baby. They were confronted by one of the 16-year-old girls and Kirsty Leigh Hood, 19. The victim was subjected to verbal abuse, including chants of 'BNP'.
The 16-year-old boy and another girl later approached the women and also became confrontational. When the boy mumbled something at the victim she told him to speak English, to which he responded: "I'm more British than you."
The boy then told one of the two girls to pull the victim's headscarf off, but she punched her in the face with such force that the pendant from her bracelet became embedded beneath the 17-year-old student's eye. She was taken to Rochdale Infirmary where the pendant was removed.
Hood, 19, of Yew Dale Gardens, Marland, was fined last month after admitting a public order offence.
Guilty
The girl who threw the punch had earlier pleaded guilty to causing actual bodily harm and was given a 10-month referral order by District Judge Paul Richardson at Rochdale magistrates after he heard the attack was her first offence. She will not have to pay costs or compensation as she is jobless and has no parental support.
Mr Richardson said: "It was the conclusion of a very ugly incident in a public park.
"Mercifully, the injury the victim sustained was not of a permanent nature, but for the victim was still a very alarming incident."
The 16 -year-old boy, who has 30 previous convictions for a catalogue of offences, admitted common assault at an earlier hearing and was given a nine month supervision order and placed under a curfew for two months. The second 16-year-old girl, who has 13 previous convictions and was involved in verbally abusing the victim alongside Hood, pleaded guilty to a public order offence earlier and was given a nine-month supervision order. Both their parents must pay £200 costs.

What does it take to issue a prison sentence? Well that's quite easy to answer, just don't pay your TV licence and see what happens, or fail to pay your tax or VAT, claim a bit more money than you should from benefits, all of these will get you time in the nick, except if you fraudulently claim loads of cash for a mortgage you haven't got and work in a palace in Westminster!

'It's amazing the MEN has failed to state that the victim was Moslem (I'm assuming she was) nor if she was an ethnic minority. I assume that she's a white British convert as there's no mention of a hate crime.'
Shouldnt matter if the victim was white or black- same tough sentence should apply - which clearly it wasnt in this case given all the previous convictions these thugs have between them. I believe all judges should be held account to the publc for their actions. It is crystal clear that many posters on here and people I know have lost faith in the justice system. The police do their job get the people to courts and then watch as the convicted get given crap pathetic sentences.

New Labour - still a joke when it comes to Law & Order, hopefully won't have to put up with them for too much longer.

Turn out needs to be 100% to turn this country around and vote for the person / party that will clamp down very very hard on the things that matter to you, be it law and order, be it eductaion, be it the NHS or even be it immigration.
These people suffered an attack for no other reason that they were in the wrong place and the wrong time, albeit the attack may have had racial overtones. But 30 years ago it would never have happened in such a public place because we would have had those now long lamented icons, the parkie and the bobby on the beat.
If you dont vote - dont moan!
And just on a side issue, if you read the news websites yesterday you will have read of a 20 year old Somali woman who was stoned to death, yes stoned to death for adultary under Islamic Law. The sentance involved burying the woman upto her waist in the sand and allowing 200 people to throw stones and rocks at her until she was dead. The man received 200 lashes.
Be careful - your lack of vote may allow an increase in the votes for Islamic Law to be integrated into British Law.

These little sh*&$ should be birched in public on their bare bottoms until they cry. I don't care about their human rights or the damage it might do to them.
Blame the liberal mamby pambies who rabbit about personal growth, aspirations and human rights. Time to revert to victorian style punishments.

You seem to contradict your self, are you in favour of meeting out violence to convicted offenders, as you say in the first half of your message, as ther example you quote in the second part seems to say you find it revolting?

It is no good asking MPs about crime and order they haven’t a clue they must read what I read up and down the country people are sick to death of reading about thugs, stabbings, beatings up and generally the law is slowly breaking down yet our MPs sit in their cosseted little world oblivious to the violence in our society and carry on as if it is someone else’s problem. Yet if someone takes the law into their own hands they are condemned by the very same MPs who sit on their backside doing nothing.
Where I live is in an unadopted street that means the council don’t look after it and it is a private street, once a prospective councillor came around canvassing when I asked would his party adopt the street he made his excuses and left. The politicians do not listen or act for their electors but do their own thing, and the electorate!! They are an inconvenience.
Bigmouth strikes again, Manchester……Shouts of BNP. Sounds about right. This country is becoming more and more racist by the week.
The ones to blame for creating a racist country is the people of this country we elect the politicians to act on our behalf and over the years they have let thousands of immigrants into this country without question. I have never read an election manifesto that says we will let foreigners in carte-blanch yet they do and every election the same MP gets voted in without anyone questioning their immigration stance.
