BRAVE residents saved a baby from a burning home. A couple and a young child were trapped inside a semi-detached house on Kingsley Avenue, Lower Kersal, after a blaze broke out in the kitchen.
But neighbours rescued the child from an upper bedroom window and led the man and woman to safety before fire crews arrived.
Neighbours dialled 999 after spotting smoke from the home just before 4am on Sunday.
Firefighters wearing breathing masks extinguished the blaze.
The three occupants were taken to hospital suffering from smoke. Four neighbours were also taken to hospital for observation.
A GM Fire Service spokesman said: “We believe the cause of the fire was a chip pan which had been left on a hob. We have still to speak to the people involved but we believe the child was passed from a bedroom window to rescuers below.”

I echo your sentiments; its good to see neighbours looking out for each other. Lets hope that all seven people taken to hospital make a speedy recovery.
