Attack leaves man fighting for life

A MAN is fighting for his life after being beaten unconscious.

Officers found the 22-year-old man on Royce Road, Hulme, in the early hours of Saturday after receiving a report of an assault.

The victim is being treated for serious head injuries at Manchester Royal Infirmary, where his condition is critical.

Police are trying to piece together the attack, which happened close to the Afewee pub.

Det Insp Colin Larkin said: "We are at the very early stages of our inquiries, and are very keen to hear from anyone who may have seen this incident.

"There were a lot of people leaving the Afewee and we are sure there are those who have valuable information that can help us find those responsible.”

Witnesses are urged to contact police on 0161 872 5050 or through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Nobody gives information to the police anymore, because the police treats most people with no respect in Hulme and Moss Side.
Maybe if they have a better approach and retrain their officers to get on with the public instead of mistreating them and abusing them.
Police officers have a bullying approach when they are all together, on their own they look to the public for help.
I Think GMP are on their own on this one.....

Maynard, it's true that nobody gives information to the police in Hulme and Moss Side and indeed a lot of other areas, as for respect nobody from these areas deserves any if they know anything about this attack and don't come forward and as charlie chan points out its not about GMP.

The point I'm trying to make is, if the police was ok with community in Moss Side and Hulme, maybe they could be on to a lead into this case and catch the thugs that done this, but nobody will talk nowadays, that's the society we live in, regards to the lad and his family,and yes i believe it seems to be a nasty unproveked attack, but lets hope someone talks, but i'm not holding my breath on that one...

There is an ongoing story in this newspaper about the trial of a police officer for passing information to a drugs dealer, in return for money. I sugest that so long as people feel there is a chance of their details being sold to the gangs they might give information about they are likely to remain silent. Can't say I blame them.

Rather than engage in the typical GMP bashing that is prolific on this site, maybe people should consider the following - Crimestoppers is a non-police organisation and does not release details of informants to the police, and people who contact them do not even have to provide a name. If someone doesn't feel comfortable speaking to the police direct, there is another option.

If they catch these people, I'd rather they were sent to Afganistan to search for IAD's, but make sure our hero's are outside range of them. Tell the Taliban that they are not soldiers but prisoners being treated as they (the Taliban) would want them treated anyway so if they get killed, it would not be a victory for them.

If they like playing Russian Rulette with other peoples lives, lets see what they're like with that kind of gamble
