Headline stories in categories including news, business and showbiz appear on screen and can be read on the move.
Fans of United and City can keep in touch with the latest from Old Trafford and Eastlands with dedicated sections for the Reds and the Blues.
The application - or `app' - is one of the first in Britain for a regional news publisher and has been downloaded by more than 1,000 users since it was created earlier this month.
The M.E.N website is already available on many mobile smartphones including the iPhone and thousands of people read our reporters' stories on mobiles every month. But the new application offers an enhanced service for iPhone users. As well as showing the latest news stories and pictures, it allows readers to share the stories using Facebook and Twitter. The application also offers breaking news.
Users can even download the stories from the internet and read them offline later. iPhone users can get the application from the App Store on their device, by searching for Manchester Evening News and iPod Touch users can get it from iTunes.

as for the reading comments, you can do that on the standard mobile site, just go to manchestereveningnews.co.uk on your phone, it should detect the mobile site, always does for me. If not, there's a link at the very bottom of every page that says "View MEN in: Standard | Mobile" - I think you can figure it out.
