A THUG who brutally attacked a pub landlord has been jailed indefinitely.
Carl Edward Davis, 27, left Billy Kershaw for dead inside the Spring Mill Tavern in Smallbridge, near Rochdale.
Bolton crown court was told dad-of-three Mr Kershaw, 39, might never fully recover from a brain injury. He is still in hospital six months after the attack. Davis, a father-of-two from Greave Avenue, Rochdale, admitted wounding with intent.
He was jailed for a minimum of three years and four months, but will only be released when he is no longer deemed to be dangerous.
Davis, who had been drinking in the pub, kicked and punched Mr Kershaw in a late-night attack. He also stole £250 after smashing a gaming machine and was seen taking alcohol from the pub.

I have been friends with Billy since we were 3 years old. I don’t know if this mindless idiot understands what he has taken away from Billy’s family and friends.
Billy was a kind and caring individual who would have done anything to help anyone!!!
The fact that he can no longer care for himself and will be left incapable of looking after himself for the rest of his life is of no consequence to this idiot.
This idiot has taken away my best friends human rights and as a consequence of this should be deprived of his own human rights and be condemned to a death sentence suspended until such time as the sand runs out in a large egg timer placed in his cell.
Daily I would have a buzzer go off to make him aware that the timer may empty at any time and the day could be today.
That way he is sentenced to have the same unpleasant life that Billy how has to endure.
