Police say they are treating the incident as attempted murder.
The images were taken by a witness using a mobile phone and show three offenders shunting a police car out of the way and running over the PC in a black BMW as they attempt to flee the scene after being discovered trying to steal money from a security van.
Detective superintendent Geoff Wessell, of the Greater Manchester Police Major Incident Team, says it is being treated as the attempted murder of a police officer.
He added: "The footage shows there was room for the car to drive past, however they chose to drive over the officer and leave him lying on the ground. We need to catch these men as clearly they have no problem in using violence to get what they want."
Police were called out to Partington Leisure Centre on Chapel Lane at around 2.30pm on Monday, October 19 because an alarm had been set off.
When they arrived they found three men trying to break into the van.
The officer who was run over was taken to hospital with serious injuries, including a broken leg.
Two PCSOs who were in the car also suffered cuts and bruises, as well as whiplash and shock.
A car fitting the BMW's description was later found burnt-out on Cargreen Lane in Warburton. Inspector Frank Morris of Stretford CID said: "These violent robbers were determined to escape the law and didn't care whether they killed or injured in the process."
Anyone with information should call police on 856 8314 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Total scum who have no right whatsoever to breath good clean air and waste oxygen that is meant for the rest of us. Their mothers should be really proud!!!!
I have no doubt that if it had been armed cops who had arrived and shot one or two and killed them there would be people shouting from the rooftops about what a good lad they where etc etc etc.
Get them and make sure they spend many many years locked away!!

Does that include this story?
You make yourself look ridiculous by complaining about the press only printing negative stories about the police when the story you're posting against is a positive one.

I have been there; in the late 60s armed with my wooden stick and whistle it is not nice, why do you post neg comments on the police when you haven’t been there?
It is so easy to comment after the event, in the cold light of day, what would most people do, run away?
The courts and CPS must get their act together and charge this lot with attempted murder/s assult, attempted robbery, theft of motor vehicle, carrying whatever wepon and issue consecutive sentences not concurrent. Hence ten years on each offence at least 40 years with no parole.

Unfortunately, we live in a society which seems to glorify violence and reward criminals -
(sighs in despair).

I get it now. What you are saying is to believe any positive stories, but disbelieve any negative stories.
The police are people and like all groups of people, sometimes the people in that group will do good things and sometimes they will do bad things.
If you aren't happy unless all the reporting of the police is positive, then you aren't asking for news, you're asking for propaganda.

Nobody is slagging the Police off we know they got a tough job, i'm surprised it wasnt a lone women cop who got sent there instead of a lone male cop, either way there is nothing they can do against armed and dangerous characters like these, he did his best and got ran over.
Its the courts the Judges we are pissed off with, running over a copper is pretty bad stuff but by the time this case has been kicked around the courts the copper will have been at fault somehow for falling in front of the criminals car, either way we know this is gonna get twisted in the criminals favour, if this was the 1960's running over a copper would be seen as a serious offence with plenty of jail time, now its a case of making up excuses for the criminals actions err understanding them I think its called.

When was the last time you made a split second decision, right or wrong?
Training cannot account for adrenalin and after thought, the police officer made a decision. I have no doubt that if he had stayed in the vehicle someone would be shouting ‘what do we pay the police for’ as the saying goes, it is a very fine line between bravery and stupidity.
