A LAWYER who assaulted his wife and scratched 'bitch' into the bonnet of her BMW has been jailed.
Jeffrey Sparke, 39, punched wife Jayne in the head after a drunken argument, a court heard.
Dad-of-one Sparke sobbed loudly when led away by court guards and said: 'I'll be dead by the morning'.
Sparke had also admitted attacking his mother-in-law in front of his nine-year-old daughter on a separate occasion.
The defendant of Middlewood Street, Castlefield, Manchester, was jailed for five months.

District Judge Mark Hadfield told the defendant: "In each case the victims you assaulted were females and vulnerable. One was approaching retirement age and injuries were caused. In my view you must be jailed immediately."
Sparke admitted assaulting his mother-in-law and her friend in September.
He had denied criminal damage of a BMW and assaulting his wife outside their former home in Mottram Old Road, Hyde.
Lynn Farndell, prosecuting, told Tameside magistrates Court that Sparke assaulted his wife in May.
She said: "Jeffrey was shouting and screaming in the street. All of a sudden he punched Jayne to the side of the head. He walked towards Jayne's car, leant over the bonnet and scratched the word bitch into it."
When police officers cautioned the defendant, Sparke asked: "How much do you earn? I earn £180,000. I bet you love your job."
The court heard that Sparke struggled with alcohol addiction and depression.
In March he assaulted his mother-in-law Mary Clark and her friend.
He was 'blind drunk' and the women were trying to stop him from driving home with his daughter after a party.
Sparke turned on them and hit them both.
Rupert Bowers, defending, said: "He is someone who without a doubt has demons.
"These are at the root of his offending."
He added that Sparke was a 'likeable and generous spirited person' and said: "There are forces at work - his drinking and mental issues - which have led to his actions."
Mr Bowers lodged an appeal against Sparke's conviction of assaulting his wife and criminal damage.
He also appealed against the sentence for all four charges.

This is not your common hardened criminal(who can do his bird) we see. This is a man who is truly sorry for his actions and has openly shown this to the whole of Manchester and beyond. If your leg breaks you go to hospital and get it fixed: If your head breaks you do the same. In all honesty could you really see this man re-offending. I can't.

Don't agree with the offence but in the equality environment were in today the fact they were females should have absolutely not bearing on the sentancing.

It seems that many on here think he deserves his sentence for being on a good salary. Show's what kind of people we have on here.
I also note that a few names on here were against the anti sharia demo so how can you advocate public stonings of women yet have a go at this chap?
