A TRIO of vicious car thieves who stole dozens of luxury motors have been jailed.

They smashed or sneaked into homes in Stockport, Manchester and Altrincham to get their hands on keys for Porsches and BMWs, worth a total of £1.5m during a two-year spree.

On one occasion they burst into a kitchen in Altrincham and threatened the terrified householder with a hammer before taking his VW Golf.

Now the raiders, all 18, have each been jailed for three years.

Netiale Coudjoe, of Holmcroft Road, Gorton; Keaton Samuels, of Netherton Road, Fallowfield; and Marcus Wilhelm, of Montreal Street, Levenshulme were imprisoned at Manchester's Minshull Street Crown Court.

Coudjoe pleaded guilty to robbery, burglary and conspiracy to convert stolen goods. Samuels pleaded guilty to six burglaries and conspiracy to convert stolen goods while Wilhelm pleaded guilty to robbery, two burglaries and conspiracy to convert stolen goods.

All three men were arrested by officers from Stockport's volume crime team as part of an operation into a spate burglaries and robberies in and around the town which ended in the theft of cars from the drive.

Between October 2007 and February 2009, the gang stole dozens of high performance cars.

After they were sentenced, Det Con Malcolm Such said: "This was a prolific gang who targeted mainly expensive cars parked outside houses in Stockport, Fallowfield and Altrincham.

"Their preferred method was to sneak or break into a house and escape with the keys. However, as the robbery in Altrincham shows they did not shy away from using or threatening violence."

jailed for three years. for threats with a hammer and terrified their victims this is yet another stupid sentence given by our liberal legal system.no wonder we have crime that is out of control.

3 Criminals steal £1.5M of cars, threaten violence, etc.,etc., and only get 3 years each, out in 18months, possibly less with early release and good behaviour.

Hardly ANY deterant of a sentence is it?????

We can all rest assured that they will be at it again as soon as they are released.

It should have been 25 years with NO remission. Judges today are too soft in the head and are sympathetic to the criminal with no thought at all for the victim.

Would they have gone to jail at all if they had been stealing low-end old Fords from outside houses in the northern and eastern parts of the city or from parts of Salford?

Well its all been said. What a very very poor sentence, all of the hard work that the Police have put into that and they only get three years, I think the judge forgot to add a zero after the 3, now that would be better.
I bet the victims still worry and have nightmares, this sentence will not help them.
To the offenders when you get out in a few months time go and attack a judge at his home address, just so they he/she knows how it feels, they may then up the sentence in the future.
But then again !!! Bring back the birch and for children / Police murders bring back hanging

Dont blame the judges its the maximum they can give.

Bring back the workhouses and conscription. 20 years in a workhouse or a one way ticket to Iraq will sort them out!

Its the sentencing guidelines which are at fault (you can read them here: http://www.sentencing-guidelines.gov.uk/guidelines/council/final.html), the judges hands are tied. The guidelines for violent crimes are particularly interesting, well worth a read. It is very convenient for the government if people just blame the judges.

The previous comments on sentencing guidelines are correct. They are set by the home office.

However, if I stole £1.5 million from the government in some sort of tax or vat scam i bet i would of got more than 3 years!!

Sentencing should be aimed at stopping further offending and I don't think these sentences do that.

Why not disqualify these people from driving for life? And from unemployment benefit too? Let's wreck the lives of a few criminals to show everyone else the consequences of antisocial behaviour.

During which they will be fed and watered, will have time and money lavished on them, will make contact with other worthless criminals and, after their little holiday is over, will be back on the streets.

They are criminal scum and will not change. They will spend their worthless lives scrounging or stealing from others.

first of all, they have recieved their sentence and they are now serving that, and no they will not be living the life of luxury or being waited on hand and foot, these people will have to work everyday to gain knowledge of what its like in the real world too work. And for all of you people that are saying they should have their hands chopped off and so on and so fourth you should have your tongue chopped off!! They have recieved this sentence because the judge obviously believes that they arent going to do it again! So if your going to blame anyone, blame the society nower days as for young people growing up, they are trying to fit in with the wrong crowd which is where these lads made their mistake and as far as i am concerned their paying their price now!!

3 years is an insult to the victims when you consider the mental torture they endure. Demi, you have obviously never been a victim of such an aggressive crime, which explains your deluded comments. Coudjoe is probably planning his next attack via facebook as we speak.
