A MAN who stabbed two strangers in a 'random and completely unprovoked' attack outside a town centre pub has been jailed.
Daniel Halligan, 32, told a taxi driver: "I've just done two guys" following the stabbing in Bury, a court heard.
Halligan, of Water Street, Radcliffe, near Bury, pleaded guilty to two counts of wounding and was jailed at Bolton Crown Court for 40 months.
Both men were out drinking with friends in Bury on August 19 last year.
They left the Robert Peal pub and overheard Halligan arguing with his sister. Halligan then stabbed one in the ribs.
The victim's friend ran over to help and was stabbed in the right shoulder.
The taxi driver contacted police after Halligan made the confession inside his cab.
Det Con Mick Yates said: "This was a completely random attack on two innocent members of the public enjoying a night out after work. Only Halligan knows why he stabbed two men without provocation, but he could have quite easily killed them. We have all seen the devastating consequences of knife crime."
