Pensioner dies after bus fall

A PENSIONER died after falling over on a bus which was forced to stop sharply.

The 80-year-old woman got out of her seat to step off the bus which was driving along Stott Lane, Salford, at 1.30pm on Monday. But she fell when the driver had to suddenly brake to avoid a car travelling in the opposite direction.

She was taken to hospital with what were thought to be minor injuries. But she deteriorated and died at Salford Royal Hospital yesterday.

Now police are trying to trace the driver of the car, a new silver Vauxhall Corsa.

So sad, my condolence to the family ,however one can not stress enough that it is too dangerous to get out of your seat before the bus stops,so many people,not just the elderly,are risking their lifes,please remember better late than never,

How sad for all concerned. I wonder if the car driver has any notion of the consequences of whatever incident occurred.

How very sad for this lady, my condolences to her family and friends.

I have lost count of the amount of times i have been in a car and a bus will pull out on you, with no regard. Bus drivers tend to think they own the road and do bully car drivers.

a very sad item. but people are already jumping to conclusions about who is to blame. the article states the bus driver had to brake suddenly to avoid a car travelling in the opposite direction. how does that conclude the car driver was at fault?
