THE Altrincham line of the Metrolink was hit by technical problems on Saturday causing potential chaos for fans at the Manchester United v Sunderland Premier League game.

Power was lost to the control room meaning the whole of the troubled Altrincham line had to be shut down at one stage. It later re-opened with a limited service.

Last month the re-opening of the Altrincham line was delayed at the last minute because of electrical issues.
