where is the fun of the chase these days.its just a back way of makin money 34 in a 30 zone points n fine a pc would warn u n it would make u think about it more effective then a letter in the post

Spotted a mobile camera on Denton roundabout last week. Was pointing at the North bound section of the M60. I could tell they obviously had safety in mind as it was a plain van with a pigeon hole in it. How does that stop speeding ?? It doesn't. It mearly raises more funds for more cameras. What a joyful caring place we live. Think i'll move to Iraq.

There is a camera in Denton so beware. Its outside 'The Fletchers' on Stockport Road.

Just a point - Cllr Oldham's 'Watchman' cameras are a joke. They are not enforceable because they do not have DTi type approval.

Motorists caught speeding should have points on their licence but they should not be fined. Cameras should be funded by a few pounds a year on the road fund licence. That way cameras would only be sited on accident black spots and those caught would know that it had been done to save lives, and not to generated funds for the local police force.

they have just put in 3 more static speed cameras in duky 1st crescent road just past the old general pub if u are heading towards ashton
2nd birch lane coming from hyde near loxley house
3rd park road comming from ashton towards stalybridge opposite the brunswick pub
hope this may help u all
these cameras have been operating for only 1 or 2 weeks

M Hargreaves - see my earlier comment. The cameras you highlight are Councillor Oldham's Watchman cameras. THEY ARE NOT LEGALLY ENFORCEABLE! They are not Type Approved by the DTI and no one has ever been prosecuted.

Drove through Dukinfield this am along Birch Rd noticed a red speed camera
flash as I drove towards it only doing 32 mph, very difficult to keep at 30 mph without constantly watching speedo in car will I be done?

1 more thing. on approach to cineworld cinema. mobile camera normally seen peak times weekdays and afternoon on saturday, but havent seen for few weeks. thanks for the locations!

Damon. How do you know that a "pc" warning you would be more effective than a "letter in the post"? Do you have any evidence/statistics to support your claim? I don't think so somehow. Next you'll be saying that murderers and muggers should just get a warning from a "pc", and that that would be more effective than sending them to prison!

And Damon, what do you mean precisely by "the fun of the chase"? And as regards to a "plain van with a pigeon hole in it" Phil - which YOU managed to spot! - in what way does it NOT stop speeders from speeding? If you get a 'ticket', and you don't know where you were copped, you are much more likely afterwards to drive within the limits all the time, aren't you?

You don't have to drive at 30mph in a 30mph zone Edyth; you could drive at nearer 25mph! You ask if you will be "done for "doing 32mph". Well, can I ask YOU a question (although I have a strong feeling you won't answer it): Do you know what speed the cameras are set to trigger at in a 30mph zone? (and if not, what speed do you THINK they trigger at?). "Thanks for the locations!" (says aky). What a pathetic bunch of cretins you are! None of you obviously has the slightest respect for other people or the thousands of victims of speeders like yourselves every year! What creeps you are!!

If speed cameras were located in sensible places people would be more tolerant. Most cameras are just piggy banks to milk drivers of even more money. I drive over 100,000 miles a year and have had a clean license for 10 years. I do stick to speed limits. Edyth, at 30mph, my speedo reads 33mph. keep the needle on 30 and you will be below limit by 2-3mph. There is a need for cameras due to the current lack of respect people have for eachother. We need better driver training and more tolerance for those new drivers(who are generally better drivers than most) driving within the limits and looking for hazards and taking their time. Impatience causes accidents. KEEP OUR ROADS SAFE.

Red Speed camera on littlemoss road in droylsden nr/Daisy Nook. i was doing 30mph in the heavy rain last night and the camera flashed! its so difficult to keep an eye on your speedometer when your driving in the dark and heavy rain, comeon you guys lighten up.

Could do with a Red Light Camaras at Crown Piont T/L,the traffic that approaches from Ashton is a disgrace when you have vehicles coming up to the lights on the OUTSIDE LANE passing all the traffic that has patiently waited to go straight on throu the lights toward H G or Stockport, only to have impateint motorist's cut you up to get into the nearside lane and advance towards H G or Stockport at the last minute.

To those who think speeding is ok. Please take care at the last second before a crash to smash yourself up against a lamppost. That way, you will be saving the lives of those who want to live. Speeding is also a danger to other motorists (and pedestrians) who are trying to make judgements, such as when to emerge from junctions etc. You often can only realise that an on-coming car is speeding when it's too late. It's far too dangerous on suburban roads. Not only that, you often make the rest of us late for work with your tangled mess of flesh, metal and glass all over the roads! Idiots!

My daughter drives too fast. She was probably going slower than normal north of Leeds due to cameras when a woman pulled out without looking. She couldn't avoid a collision but at least was not travelling too fast. The car was a wreck but my daughter escaped with very minor injuries but badly shaken up. So it quite possible that these cameras saved her from serious injury or even death.
